Retaining Ring

Retaining Ring

A formed wire or stamped ring that snaps into a groove, locking parts onto a shaft or into a bore.

Retaining rings (also called snap rings or circlips) hold parts in place axially without bolts or fasteners. They sit in a machined groove on a shaft (external) or inside a bore (internal) and resist axial loads up to thousands of pounds.

We supply DIN 471 (external) and DIN 472 (internal) retaining rings in standard sizes, and custom geometries to drawing.
